We generally dont recommend bringing your own parts for repair most of the time. This is due to the experience we have had with a lot of bad suppliers. It takes years to find good and reliable suppliers and those GOOD suppliers often don't sell to end users. However if you are still in need of this, here is a guide to bringing your OWN partS for the repair. Please note that we do not offer this service to businesses. THE PROCESS

The issue may be something different than what you think it is. There are issues that don't need too much investigation such as a tiny crack on the screen but when your MacBook is not charging, the issue may not be the battery. It could be logic-board, or battery or charger or a combination of those 3. This is perhaps the only cost of Right to Repair. Clients could often be wrong in the diagnostics process. Repair shops with years of experience often make mistakes in the diagnostics process, yet alone end users. Be prepared for the unpredicted outcome. If the part you purchased is not working, you may have to pay double for the labour.

FIND A RELIABLE SUPPLIER

As of this moment, you can find original parts from Apple in some countries including United States. But this is not the case in Canada yet (This is written in June 2023)
It is important to find the right and reliable supplier for your repair. Trust the reviews and see how the company has handled bad reviews or negative experiences. Industry suggests up to 4% x 1 star reviews is forgivable. Make sure you get at least 6 months warranty on the parts you are purchasing online. Also make sure it is in Canadian Dollar. You should also keep in mind the import fees and taxes prior purchasing.

Once you find your part, you can also inquire the price of repair. Keep in mind that labor for these jobs is not hourly based. If a shop says it is per hour, it is probably not true. An experienced technician can replace a screen on a Macbook Air M1 2020 in under 30 min if they have only worked on MacBooks in their career, while another technician with a lot of experience with so many different PCs and iPads and iPhones may need 3 hours for the same job, simply because they have repaired less M1 MacBook Airs in this hypothetical scenario. If its done quicker, it doesn't mean it would be cheaper, it could be more expensive because the technician may have a lot of experience handling those models compared to one that has repaired less MacBook Air models. The way you open, close, align and handle the device is very important when repairing MacBooks. People often think that Apple Store is the most reliable place for repairs. While this may be true about the parts used, but the technicians there are paid hourly and often not enough and their skills vary. When we go through the process of hiring technicians, we usually avoid technicians that have worked at Apple, because of the way they work on devices.

Once you receive your part, book your appointment to have it repaired.

There is no warranty on any BYOP repairs. The payments for the repairs are processed in advance and non-refundable. If your part ends up not working, and we have to remove it again and give it back to you so that you ship it back to the supplier, we may charge double for the labor to do that.
